Después de dejar el otro día la lista de obras maestras absolutas que, desde de ‘The Godfather’ hasta nuestros días han aparecido en el seno del cine estadounidense, dejo aquí otro listado, esta vez de películas notables, algunas rozando lo magistral o quizá entrando en ello, que también sirve, como la otra, para esgrimir contra todos aquellos que aluden que los grandes filmes de EEUU (no las obras maestras siquiera) de los 30, 40 y 50 son muy superiores a los de los 70, 80, 90 y actuales… cuando en realidad la cosa es muy diferente, porque en muchos casos, si esto fuera una competición o una pelea, recibirían auténticas palizas. Hay algunas ausencias que no creo que sean un olvido, sino que has degradado su valoración: Guardians of the galaxy (a mí nunca me gustó, ya lo dejé escrito en un comentario), cuatro películas que en sus estrenos destacaste: Drive (cierto es que en un artículo posterior ya señalaste lo que le faltaba), Ad astra, The arrival y Blade runner 2049 (aquí creo que Dennis Villeneuve se te ha caído como director), supongo que The pianist de Polanski no es estadounidense y, esto a lo mejor sí que es un olvido (a no ser que sea producción no estadounidense también), no hay nada de Alfonso Cuarón en ambas listas.

Ya sabes: uno va depurando sus apreciaciones. En el caso de Cuarón, sus dos obra maestras, la tercera de Harry Potter e Hijos de los hombres, son británicas, y su maravillosa Y tu mamá también es mexicana, así que no puedo incluirlas. Lo mismo sucede con The Pianist.
